Peter Denies Knowing Jesus
How many rose with Jesus from the grave. Heaven Vs Paradise.

Peter Denied Knowing Jesus

Matthew 10

32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 26

69. Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70. But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

72. And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73. And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

74. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

75. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Peter denied knowing Jesus and the third time even cursed Him. So what does scripture say about this?

Matthew 10

32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

How did Peter stay an apostle after denying knowing and even cursing Him?

John 21

15. So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

So Jesus gave Peter a way to repent. Jesus had not yet ascended to the Father and until He did Peter had an out and Jesus offered it to him.

The point is Jesus will always give of us a way out, today it is called repenting. To ask forgiveness and try our best to never do it again.

Strong's Ref. # 25

Romanized agapao

Pronounced ag-ap-ah'-o

perhaps from agan (much) [or compare HSN5689]; to love (in a social or moral sense):

KJV--(be-)love(-ed). Compare GSN5368.

The above agapao is the love in verses 15, and 16 that Jesus used. In 17 it was actually like not love and here is it's meaning.

Strong's Ref. # 5368

Romanized phileo

Pronounced fil-eh'-o

from GSN5384; to be a friend to (fond of [an individual or an object]), i.e. have affection for (denoting personal attachment, as a matter of sentiment or feeling; while GSN0025 is wider, embracing especially the judgment and the deliberate assent of the will as a matter of principle, duty and propriety: the two thus stand related very much as GSN2309 and GSN1014, or as GSN2372 and GSN3563 respectively; the former being chiefly of the heart and the latter of the head); specifically, to kiss (as a Mark of tenderness):

KJV--kiss, love.

In Greek verse 15, Feed is to pastor, lamb is lamb like or Christ like

In Greek verse 16, Shepherd is to tend (superviser), sheep is sheepfold or flock.

In Matthew 26:75 when Peter swear about knowing Jesus, he was taking an oath.

Many rose with Jesus

Matthew 27

  1. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
  2. And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Many miss this verse altogether. And in so miss one of our promises and proof of it.

* Many not all raised with Jesus. Now what do you think Jesus did for 3 days in the grave?

We know that there was a gulf between Hell and paradise (Abraham's bosom).

We learn that from the (true) story Jesus told of the rich man and Lazarus that died.

This was Passover and almost everyone that was a Jew was in Jerusalem. And most of them were there 3 days earlier yelling crucify Him. Now 3 days later they see their loved ones who had passed away walking the streets basically saying whom you crucified is Lord.

Paradise vs Heaven

Some have had trouble distigushing between heaven and paradise, that they were one and the same. When they are not, paradise is where all before grace went it is also called Abraham's Bosom.

Matthew 16

  1. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
  2. And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
  3. And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
  4. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
  5. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
  6. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
  7. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
  8. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
  9. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
  10. For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
  11. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
  12. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
  13. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Luke 23

  1. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
  2. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
  3. And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
  4. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
  5. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
  6. And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Strong's Ref. # 3857

Romanized paradeisos

Pronounced par-ad'-i-sos

of Oriental origin [compare HSN6508]; a pMark, i.e. (specifically) an Eden (place of future happiness, "paradise"):

KJV--paradise.

Strong's Number: 6508

Transliterated: pardec

Phonetic: par-dace'

Text: of foreign origin; a pMark: --forest, orchard.

Strong's Ref. # 8034

Romanized shem

Pronounced shame

a primitive word [perhaps rather from HSN7760 through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; compare HSN8064]; an appellation, as a Mark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character:

KJV-- + base, [in-]fame[-ous], named(-d), renown, report

1 Samuel 2

  1. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

Strong's Ref. # 8064

Romanized shamayim

Pronounced shaw-mah'-yim

dual of an unused singular shameh {shaw-meh'}; from an unused root meaning to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve):

KJV--air, X astrologer, heaven(-s).

1 Samuel 2

  1. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
  2. Joshua 2

  3. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

The word paradise and heaven (both versions of heaven) are different, there are so many verses to refer to but these touch on all that the others will.
