Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

Christianity of Convenience

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

This Bible Study is meant for Pastors, it is not in all for every Pastor, but might have some thing for most. If it speaks to you and hits at home then just listen to it go to God and have Him guide you. This study is meant to help pastors grow.

Christianity has become a religion of convenience, so many talk the talk, but are not walking the walk.

If it is convenient then Christians do it, I have a neighbor who is good friends of the parents of a little girl I drive to school. Both sets of parents attend the same church, and both have their children attend the same Christian school as my daughter. But the girl I pick up is out of my way and the opposite direction of the school. So the neighbor won't or does not pick her up because it is inconvenient to do so.

Here is another example, if it works into the schedule to go door to door and give their witness of Jesus, first has to be worked into the schedule and if it can not, then it is what always gets dropped. And when doing so the question asked is not "Do You Know Jesus" or "Do You Have a Personal Relationship with The Lord" but instead "Would You Like to attend Church With Me". When asked "Why?" the person at the door is then thrown off schedule, because they then have to explain or they may not even know why.

We have become such a religion of convenience, we have services on Sunday Morning which is the largest attended for most, then Sunday Night which normally is second largest and then mid week which is the lowest. Why do services drop off, it is not convenient to go, something about being tired from the day or something is on t.v.. These are just a few of the reasons we can find not to attend service.

We also are not training or being trained how to witness or hear from God, and because if this it has become a religion instead of a life style.

As pastors we are to teach them how to listen and hear from God:

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1 John 2:27 (KJV)

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Romans 8:16 (KJV)

We are to hear from God and not man, man is to be used as the tool for God to work through to bring the lost to Him. And then as Pastors we are to pray for them and train them up in the Word. Help them to hear and listen to God.

If we do our job and not be concerned with the things of the world, God will take of the things of the world for us.

But we then preach on areas that are aimed at getting the congregation to give more money or more time. Instead of letting the Lord talk to them and have Him guide them to give what is needed.

Yes, when they are young they may need this, but we should be helping them grow so this is only for the young and not the ones hearing. But sometimes it is easier to preach to man than to depend on God. Again a form of convenience. And I am not saying all do this, but a lot do, more than I care to consider.

This study is not a condemnation of the Body, but a gentle nudge to be sure we are not here and part due to convience but due to our Love for God.

Pastors if you preach the Love of God, God's Love, and teach how to hear, listen to and obey God, you will not have a need to preach to man about giving or tithing, you will have more than you ever imagined.

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD heMarkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Mal 3:8-18 (KJV)

We rob God of His own people and since we are the temple, the store house, we should feed them and as they are fed and learn to hear then God will bless us even more.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the comandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Mark 7:9 (KJV)

And we do not want to become as the scribes and Pharisees of 2,000 years ago, where they were preventing people form entering the kingdom.

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
