Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

Care, Need, Want, Desire, Lust

Pastor Jerry Wilhite, author

If you have not read our previous studies on casting down imaginations and evil thoughts and hearing from and listening to God then at the bottom of this study is a review for you. I can not emphasis enough the importance of reading the study at the bottom first to those who either have not read it before or do not remember it well. It is listed as "STUDY REVIEW".

This study should help all who read it understand there are 5 steps to getting into Lust and sin.

We have to learn how to hear from God, cast down imaginations and take every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. But until we learn how to do these things we need to be careful about:

  1. Un-forgiveness
  2. Judging
  3. Lust
  4. Loving as God does

In Mark 11:25-26 we are told if we do not forgive all we are not forgiven. And if we are not forgiven we can not be saved.

Then in Matthew 7:1-5 we are told not to judge unless we want to be judged even more harshly.

Lust is a path we travel down to fall from grace into the fullness of the world and the flesh.

Love is the key, in love is forgiveness, love does not judge or discriminate, love does not lust, love is pure but only that love as of God not of the world.

Today many are addicted to porno on the net, videotapes, etc; there are other addictions as well such as drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, music, games, movies, television and more. For the most part they start off the same way a little here and there until one day a person is so deep they have no way to get out.

An addiction based on the world is caused due to a person being weak but the truth is it is the world that is causing the addictions and drawing more and more into it.

There are two ways to overcome addictions, first of all for both a person has to be honest and admit they are addicted. The first way to overcome is cold turkey such as in porno remove all porno and any items that are related to porno from where you live, work, etc. Then avoid at all costs all that can lead you back into it, this means stop watching any and all shows that are even in the least part explicit, and spend your free time with others doing constructive things or playing games such as basketball, baseball, etc.

The other way is to seek help and get others involved in helping you over come the addiction.

Actually I believe that going cold turkey for anything such as drugs and alcohol is possible and for porno is necessary. But all need help and support, plus all involved need to understand this is an attack of the soul via the flesh and should be supported as one does with someone going through kemo for cancer.

Cares

Cares are like needs except they are not always the same as a need.

I care for you is not a need it is an emotion and is healthy and deals with loving each other.

I care about a problem with my health so instead of letting it grow into concerns, worries, and anxiety I should believe I am healed. Many believe scripture states "We ARE healed by His stripes" which gives the impression of being healed maybe healed or healed in the future.

But actual scripture states " by whose stripes ye WERE healed " were means it is a done deal it was done 2000 years ago when Jesus took the stripes for our healing.

1 Peter 2

24. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Any care including that of others should be given to God to handle. I Peter 5:7 means we should throw all of our cares/anxiety upon Him. When you throw a rock away it is no longer in your possession and you no longer have it and that is what we should do with all cares/anxiety.

1 Peter 5

7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

7.

|3956| all

|3588| the

|3308| anxiety

|5216| of you

|1977| Throwing

|0846| Him,

|3754| because

|0846| to Him

|3199| it matters

|4012| concerning

|5216| you.

Romanized merimna

Pronounced mer'-im-nah

from GSN3307 (through the idea of distraction); solicitude:

KJV--care.

NEEDS

A need is mostly that we have for like a meal when hungry, or coat when it is cold, etc.

Again we should use our faith to allow God to supply all of our needs. But from cares to needs will come desires and eventually lust.

Matthew 6

32. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

32.

|3956| all

|1063| For these

|5023| things

|3588| the

|1063| For

|3588| the

|3962| Father

|5216| of you

|3588| the

|3770| heavenly

|3754| that

|5535| you need

|5130| these {things}

|0537| of all.

from GSN5532; to make (i.e. have) necessity, i.e. be in want of:

KJV--(have) need.

Matthew 6

8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

|3754| So,

|3666| do be like

|1063| Because

|3588| the

|3962| Father

|5216| of you

|3739| what things

|5532| need

|2192| you have

|3588| -

|5209| you

|0846| Him.

Strong's Ref. # 5532

Romanized chreia

Pronounced khri'-ah

from the base of GSN5530 or GSN5534; employment, i.e. an affair; also (by implication) occasion, demand, requirement or destitution:

KJV--business, lack, necessary(-ity), need(-ful), use, want.

The answer to our needs is found in

Matthew 6

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Desires

Desires are the things we actually can live without they are not true needs.

We desire a new car when the car we have is only a year or two old or older but meets all of our needs and cares.

Due to advertising and others with new cars this two things work together to drive our desires. And to get us into the flesh more and more and over into the world and out of the word.

The sad thing is that many have used Mark 11:22-26 to show we can have all of our desires. But the word desire does not actually exist in the verse it was added for clarity and in doing so makes desires a good thing.

Desires can be good but only when they are for God and His kingdom not for things of this world.

When it states what so ever we pray for if we believe we can receive them refers to that which is of God, His word and kingdom not the flesh and the world.

I am not saying cars, homes, furniture, etc are evil or wrong to have. As long as they do not have you and they are tools for you and are in the right place in your life as tools and nothing more then it does not matter at all. But the problem is the world uses everything possible to get us to want, desire and even lust for more and more. While getting us in debt more and more which is bondage to the world system.

Mark 11

24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

24.

|1223| There-

|5124| fore,

|3004| I say

|5213| to you,

|3956| All things

|3745| whatever

|0302| -

|4336| praying

|0154| you ask,

|4100| believe

|3754| that

|2483| you have {already} received,

|2532| and

|2071| it will be

|5213| to you.

Romanized an

Pronounced an

a primary particle, denoting a supposition, wish, possibility or uncertainty:

KJV--[what-, where-, wither-, who-)soever. Usually unexpressed except by the subjunctive or potential mood. Also contracted for GSN1437.

Mark 10

35. And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

35.

|1320| Teacher,

|2309| we desire

|2443| that

|1437| whatever

|0154| we may ask

|4160| you would do

|2254| for us.

Strong's Ref. # 2309

Romanized thelo

Pronounced thel'-o

or ethelo {eth-el'-o}; in certain tenses theleo {thel-eh'-o}; and etheleo {eth-el-eh'-o}; which are otherwise obsolete; apparently strengthened from the alternate form of GSN0138; to determine (as an active option from subjective impulse; whereas GSN1014 properly denotes rather a passive acquiescence in objective considerations), i.e. choose or prefer (literally or figuratively); by implication, to wish, i.e. be inclined to (sometimes adverbially, gladly); impersonally for the future tense, to be about to; by Hebraism, to delight in:

KJV--desire, be disposed (forward), intend, list, love, mean, please, have rather, (be) will (have, -ling, - ling[-ly]).

Lust

Lust is evil and of the flesh not of the spirit, lust will lead a person into violence, murder, theft and of course not to mention envy.

A person who lusts for an item or person in time will justify any way to get the item or person even if that includes hurting others.

Lust will drive a person to what is called the criminal element at the least but what is worse it will cut us off from God and send us to Hell in time.

You need to understand that the world system and the flesh are of Satan and not God.

The bottom line is that all companies only look at the bottom line and they want your money. And they will do all they can to make their product seem desirable, needed and even to some degree that you can not live with out it.

What shocks me is that 150 years ago there were no cars, planes, ships (boats that would be slow and deadly), for the most part most of the candy was not around. Soda water (soft drinks like coke) were just starting to be discovered, junk food did not exist what they called junk food we would not call junk food. No air conditioners, inside water (some had a pump inside that pumped water into one sink) or at the least no in side toilets. During the winter they had to go out in the cold to the out house or to the woods to do their business.

No games, movies, television and for the most part the Bible was read in the evening after dinner until bed. Most lived in one or two rooms, got up at dawn or before and worked till dusk.

School was not mandatory and for the most part 4th grade was as high as most would get to and then higher education was for the rich.

But with all the hardships and lack of technology they had no terrorist, no real lack and were contented in ways we no longer understand. They were contented with a piece of land to work, food and a roof over their head and their health.

As awesome as technology is it has had more adverse effects on us than positive other than in medicine.

1 Timothy 6

10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

|4491| a root

|1063| For

|3956| of all

|2556| evils

|2076| is

|3588| the

|5365| love of money,

|3739| of which

|5100| some

|3713| lusting after

|0635| were seduced

|0575| from

|3588| the

|4102| faith,

STUDY REVIEW

Casting Down Imaginations...

This will get into the depth of one verse that I have found is the most liberating verse in the word of God after verses on salvation. In his walk with God Paul learned that his thoughts were not his own. He learned that either we allow the thoughts of this world to rule us or seek a higher thought that would liberate us from the thoughts of this world.

Now understand Jesus said the prince of this world, the ruler of the world and the flesh, was and is Satan.

John 14

30. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Satan uses all the tools of this world to tempt us to follow after him and not God. He is so subtle that most never realize they are following Satan.

Matthew 13

22. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Having things is a balancing act; you can have things as long as the things do not have you. For many people lust grows and most if not all cannot control lust while they are of the world. That is why we are told to be in the world but not of the world. Lust does not mean just sex; it can mean money, things, power, etc. Even pastors, priests, etc can lust and not realize they do. That is one reason power should not be given to religion but be found only in Christ.

Realizing that Satan had power to invade and control his thoughts Paul wrote:

2 Corinthians 10

5. Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We are to cast down any imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God before trying to take our thoughts into captivity. Notice Paul did not say cast down ALL imaginations, just those that do not line up with God. There are good and evil imaginations. Good imaginations are those that deal with God, being with God, walking as Jesus did with God, etc. Evil imaginations are those where we have a flash of an imagination, such as a person cutting us off on the freeway and we then imagine doing something to the person or putting fear into them. If we dwell on this imagination we may do something stupid like chase the person or worse.

Imaginations range from sex to power, money to things, all of which under the control of God are good, but if not under His control they are destructive.

So we cast down the evil imaginations and then we start taking every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. An imagination is an intrusion into our mind if it is from Satan, and it is insight if it is from the Lord. The intrusion could be something small or something huge. Examples:

Small

A bird is sitting on a fence singing its heart out to the morning sunshine. You see it and a thought to throw a rock at it intrudes your mind. That imagination is of Satan; cast it down.

Huge

You are paying the monthly bills and the thought intrudes that if you or your spouse died accidentally the family would be well off from the insurance settlement. That is a satanic imagination that must be cast down.

You can take an imagination and dwell on it and make it part of your thoughts; if it is not of God you must cast it down so it will not. If it is of God, keep it and make it part of you and be obedient.

God will give you imaginations that line up with Christ. Examples:

You see the bird singing in the morning sunshine and you start to think about the next life when you will be able to sing like a bird and even fly like a bird soaring high in the clouds experiencing everything God has created. This is an imagination that is worthy of being a full-fledged thought.

You are paying the bills and you start to thank the Lord that there is always enough to cover them with some left over to enjoy every month. You realize how blessed your family is and praise God that you are all alive, well fed, housed and clothed. That imagination is from the God and should become a regular thought.

Imaginations spawn ideas and thoughts that can destroy you if they are from Satan and improve your life if they are from God.

If you start dwelling on throwing rocks at innocent creatures you might start doing it. That could lead to worse things like torturing them or even moving up to committing atrocities on other people.

An imagination from God regarding finances will not lead to getting wealth from a loved one’s death. It would be more along the lines of receiving a harvest from another source, or a creative, lucrative idea that you could turn into a money making opportunity that would be a blessing for your family as well as others.

Remember Christ is God; God is a Spirit (John 4:23-24) and being of Christ is to be anointed with God, in, on, and through us.

Mark 8

36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

There is nothing of this world that is worth losing eternity with God and suffering eternal torment. But some still can only see the here and now and not the day after.

Matthew 13

38. The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

It is your choice to be of the good seed or of the tares. You have to choose, but to do so does not mean attending a church of this world once or twice a week, but walking with God 24/7. Remember it must start with hearing from God and casting down evil imaginations. That does not mean keeping good imaginations as this world defines goodness, but only those of God.

Mark 10

18. And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

One of the worst things Satan did was pervert the words we use so they have little or no real meaning to us any more. The word "good" is derived from "God". Long ago people revered God so much that they did not even say the word flippantly. Now it is tossed around and used in conjunction with curses as if it were normal. Satan is good at what he does.

John 15

18. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Hearing from God

Some have trouble with the idea of actually hearing from God. Let me ask you this, "Can you find anywhere in the word where it states this is the be all and end all, that we are not to hear directly from God?"

I can not, but I can find plenty that says the opposite. Before I show you the scripture think of this - isn't it arrogant to believe we can talk to God but He, the creator of all, can not talk to us?

Where did you get the idea we could not hear from Him? As I stated it is not in scripture.

John 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

John 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

For those of you for whom even Jesus' own words are not enough as above in John here are some more:

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Before you say it is reading the word it clearly states hearing, and before you say it is referring to hearing someone read it, it states clearly by the word of God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

If that is not clear enough what about when Jesus said we are to be taught all things, not just that of God but all things by the Spirit of God?

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The word Christos is Greek for anoint and also means Christ.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

So by that of Christ (anointing) we are taught not by man.

Jesus told us that He was anointed with the Spirit of God, and since He is the Christ the anointing or Christ is the Spirit of God in, on and through us.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Any of you who think the Spirit is dead or ended in the first century church you are then saying God ended or is dead.

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

For those who believe that faith ended in the first century church or are against sites and ministries of faith, then you are also against salvation, because it is by faith we are saved.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

If we are not to hear from God then why would John write 3 verses about testing the spirits to be sure it is God and not Satan that we are hearing?

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

If you believe Jesus is God then God is the same as and not less than Jesus right?

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Baptism, yes there is only one true baptism that of the Holy Ghost. Do not take my word on it; take the word of John the Baptist and Jesus on it.

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

If the one true baptism was water, not the Holy Ghost, then Jesus would never have stated:

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

I know it confuses many because they read later about water baptism but that is of the flesh not the spirit and it is our way of showing our faith.

Galatians 6:7 clearly states.. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for

whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

There are three separate elements at work in us, that of the flesh, the soul, and the Spirit. If we bow to the flesh then we are of the flesh, but if we are subject to and bow to the Spirit then the Spirit blesses us.

Do you know what these statements mean without looking it up in the Bible?

  1. I am of the world!
  2. I am in the world!

If you stated number 1 then you need to understand to say that you are of the world is stating you are of the world and its system that is ruled by Satan. So you are stating you are of Satan.

If you said number 2 then you are on the right track. You are in the world because this is where we are physically now, but not of the world.

You see there are so many misunderstood and even incorrectly taught beliefs of the Bible.

What is the Bible then?

First of all yes it is the breathed word of God, but that does not mean it is the be all and end all of God. When we try to force the Bible to be the end all we are divided and then we are doomed.

Matthew 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Satan knows this as well and uses it to his benefit not ours.

We can not be divided and will not be if we all hear from God because we will not all walk away with different interpretations as we do with His word. We will all have the same understanding of His word as He explains it to us.

I mean really think about how arrogant we are to think we can talk to Him, pray to Him and even expect Him to answer our prayers but He can not talk to us.

What better way for Him to help us until we do hear from Him is there than by giving us a manual to guide us through our infancy as children of God. Then the day comes when we must grow up.

Answer me this, can you say you know without any doubt at all you are saved, that no one can ever say anything to get you to even consider you are not? If you say yes then you must have heard as it is stated in Romans 8:16 from God that you are His child. Once we hear this no one can ever steal our salvation.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

So why are there so many different beliefs and wrong teachings then?

It is like two people reading the same book and then they finish and talk about it but both come away with a totally different understanding or interpretation of the book. That is at least until they meet the writer and learn what he/she meant. Then they both have the same understanding.

The same is for us with the word of God. It is given to help and protect us while we are growing until the day comes we hear that still quiet voice and it grows louder and louder and we learn the truth. Not of man but of God and God only. You can not say you or anyone else is 100% right because you do not know what is 100% right but God does.

Even Paul warns about our thoughts:

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

You see you do not have an original thought. Every thought you have had or will have in the future has already been thought and will be thought by others. We are so arrogant to believe that if we have a thought then it was ours and we then act on it. That is when we get into trouble, but if we realize that our thoughts only come from one of two places, God or Satan, then we can beware and protect against those of Satan.

You see Satan forces his thoughts on us. God does not because He is a gentleman at the door waiting. We have to invite Him in and seek His thoughts, but if we do not believe we can hear from Him we never will seek His thoughts and continue to act on Satan's thoughts.

Think about the evil, hate, and violence in the world. Think how much may be prevented if the truth were known and whom do you think this serves the best?

What would it serve me, the staff of this ministry, or even this ministry to teach people how to hear from God and then not listen to us but Him only? It only serves them and God of course.

Anyone can hear if they have the desire, ask God for His help, and will dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to listening for how ever long it takes to hear from Him.

Do you really think mankind is better or higher than Jesus was?

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
