Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

Overcoming Self-Centeredness

Pastor Jerry Wilhite, author

Remember Adam's sin was due to being self-centered and not being God centered.

There are a lot of us who justify away a lot of what we do and in the end it will either bless or curse others. More times than not it curses others.

There is an old saying, "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I believe this is true. Over the years I have been tempted to use godsgifttoyou.com to attack others that are not of the Lord. I wanted to call for boycotts of companies and products that I saw as a problem. Then I remember another saying, not as old but as true, "What Would Jesus Do?" Then I find myself no longer wanting to do what I had first intended.

2 Corinthians 10

5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

I know it is the world and the flesh feeding me some if not most of these thoughts because as far as Satan is concerned as long as we are divided we are already defeated.

Matthew 12

25. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Some will say these are noble thoughts but how do we overcome evil and unite in Jesus if so many are of the world? Do we accept them no matter what? The answer is Yes and No. We always accept people no matter what but we do not always accept what they do.

The point is to get others to see and understand the truth they need to know we are not going to judge and condemn them and their way of life. So what we do is seek all others in the name of Jesus and love them. Hopefully in time as they also grow in the Lord they will see the error of their lives and grow and change as we are. Remember we are not perfect and in the eyes of God a sin is a sin.

If you see something as wrong then you pray for who is doing it to see the light. You do not go up to them and say, "You are wrong and evil and I am praying for you." Instead you live your life as an example and let them see through your life the way it should be. It does not mean being a hypocrite or showing off but just living a life one on one with God and allowing His love to show through us.

There are many factions in the churches of this world.

  1. Legalistic, those who say they are of grace but live a life that is grounded in legalism.
  2. Liberal, those who accept any and all ways of life in the church. I mean they even preach and teach it and allow it in every segment of the church as if it belongs there.
  3. Self centered, these are those who believe the entire universe rotates around them and will seek revenge against any who do them wrong or do not see others as they should to the point of hurting them.
  4. Worldly and of the flesh, these are those that hold all the world has to offer in as high or higher regards than even God, and enjoy all the pleasures of the flesh with no concern of the outcome.

We must know the Lord, have a one on one relationship with Him, and let Him guide us in all ways.

I have church on Sunday nights so the morning is open to spend with God and if I go and get donuts others judge me because I am not dressed as they are preparing to attend church. I have also seen those who condemn others because they do not live as they do. Both are wrong because only God knows the heart and only in the heart and with our mouth can we truly be saved.

Romans 10

9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Be careful not to be one who thinks they are of the Lord and only give lip service.

Matthew 15

8. This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the comandments of men.

There is only one way to truly worship God.

John 4

23. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

  1. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

If one seeks God, listens to Him, and is obedient they have nothing to fear or be concerned about in this life or the one to come.

Matthew 6

33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

By faith we believe and by faith we are saved.

Hebrews 11

6. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Not by anything we do ourselves except believing in what has already been done for us.

Ephesians 2

8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

What about abortion and the death penalty? I do not believe in either.

I actually believe a person who spends 10-100 years in prison for a crime has the time to think about what they did and to be saved. Death is the end here and it lets them off the hook.

Before you read this section and think I am really out there understand I have known people who have been incarcerated and told me what it is like in prison. For most, not all, it is a lot better in than out. That is why some repeat so they can go back in.

I also believe that our penal system needs to be revamped.

I know some will think this is not very Christian of me but I believe that if we have real reasons to deter people from comitting crimes it will work. Making prison a place where some want to go, where they get better treatment than we do, is not the way. What I mean is a person in prison has better medical/dental coverage than most of us at no cost to them as well as mental health, food, clothing, a roof over their head, television, activities, access to the net, etc. For a person to have all of this on the out side it would require about 65K a year or better income and that would mean that all under 65K are not getting as good as those in prison. This does not deter a person from comitting a crime; it may even encourage it for some.

If an inmate does not work (unless they are not capable of working) they only get bread and water, no activities, no television, no access to the net. As far as medical is concerned, that would still have to be provided to the extent of keeping them alive/ healthy…nothing extra or cosmetic.

How many do you think would avoid jail and worse if they thought they would have to work and pay their way as well as their families and the victim and their family.

I have heard of a lot spending 5, 10, or more years, getting a degree or two and coming out in better shape with more than they ever had before. I am not against this but let's do not give it to them; make them work as the rest of us have to do. By making them work we are getting them ready for life on the outside. By giving them everything and not working we are making it impossible for them to succeed.

Before you think I do not understand what it is like, that prison is not a cakewalk, I do understand, but no one forced them to comit the crime they are in for. No I do not believe in abusing anyone, even those in prison. I do believe that with the extra income, better trained guards that better supervision would be provided so just such things would not happen.

Plus if a person pays their own way a certain amount of self esteem is involved and this can help in getting the person ready for the outside.
