You Have the Power
Jerry Wilhite, author I know some are wondering about godsgifttoyou.com and my stand on the war in Iraq, and in general what all is happening in the world. Well, godsgifttoyou.com stands for all that God stands for and what can be found in the word. The best way to understand what God is about is to know Him, actually listen to and hear from Him directly. Also read Galatians 5:22-24 and you can see what we stand for. Now about what you can do yourself, did you know that the actual power in this country is you? Yes, you have the power because anywhere there is freedom you have the power. If you do not agree with a program on television or even think the program should not be on, then you can watch the comercials of the program and see who is advertising, and then notify them by mail and phone that you will not buy any of their products as long as they are advertising on that show. It does not take 100% of the people or 75% or even 50% to make a difference. As little as 5%, and in some cases less can change an advertiser's mind about where they advertise or not. It is true 99.9% of all advertisers advertise to increase not decrease sales. So if, due to the ads, sales drop, they will yank their ad money from a show so fast your head would spin. The networks will also follow suit since they are in business to make money (otherwise they would give the ads away instead of charging for them). Movies, ok, they do not have as many advertisers, but the studios and the movie theater chains that show the movies are in business to make money. So if you do not go see a movie, and then do not go to any movies made by a studio that you disagree with, it will make a big difference. Overnight a star can become an unknown just because the public lost interest in them. So when you see movies that you think are wrong or people in the movies make coments you disagree with, write, call and tell the studio you have stopped watching their movies. Then do not go see them and do not rent them. If a certain type of movie or a studio drops off the most rented to the least rented list at the video stores, the video stores will order fewer & fewer of their movies. Politicians are even easier; all they require are enough calls and letters and they jump through hoops to change. The worst thing we can do is have term limitations. Why? Well if a bad politician knows he/she is out after this term, don't you realize that for 2 to 4 years you have a person who is now totally working for themselves and not you? In most cases they (the bad ones) will give their support to any and all groups that will help them when after they are out of office, even if they promised they never would. There is a term limitation; it is called the vote. If 10% of the voting public voted against something or called and mailed their congressman and senator, things would change. Imagine what would happen if 20, 40 or more percent did the same. You even have the power to control prices. If gas or your electric bill is too high, all you have to do is notify them you will drive less and watch for the discount prices and raise your AC up to 78 or 80 and in time, when enough people do it, demand drops and prices drop. There is nothing you can not control, banking, phone, cell, Net, are just a few that have already changed prices due to demand dropping and each trying to get you back using them and their service as before. Why is this not known by more or at least well known by us in general? Think about it, who is left to tell you that you would not affect in time? Do you think the politicians, the media, or Hollywood are going to say, "Hey guys, you are in charge." No, they do not want you to realize you are the boss and in charge. All they want is to pick your pocket. So the next time you get mad and want to do something because some Hollywood type or some media person said something you disagree with, remember you are their boss not the other way around. You make the stars, you make the shows, and you make the prices. If you think one does not matter remember the Bush/Gore Presidential election in Florida where one or two made a huge difference. Also remember people who make coments that are not what you agree with and are wrong, then more than likely they are misinformed and misled and for the most part do not even realize that Satan is pulling their strings. So pray for them, ask God to intercede on their behalf and then do all I stated above.
