Breaking the Mold
Jerry Wilhite, author Breaking the mold is what we have to do with our children to stop, or at least try to control, the runaway prejudice and violence in our comunities. It is such a shame that so many, including ministry leaders, have missed the point of what Christianity is all about. For so many it is to get more and more people to join the congregation; numbers is all that seems to be important to them. That is such a shame because Jesus died for us to have what Adam gave away. In the Bible we are told that Adam was the first Adam and Jesus was the last. What was it that Adam gave away? Earth and dominion of the earth? Eden? Life connected to God on a one on one basis? ALL of the above? If you said all, then you are right, but # 3 is the most important. Read John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son." Love is the key to understanding all of what God is about and what He wants for us. For so long I have not understood a particular verse or at least not the full understanding of it. Matthew 12 46. While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49. And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50. For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. When Jesus said who is my mother, and who are my brethren? I had not totally understood until recently. Breaking the mold is teaching the truth about what God, Christianity, and Jesus are all about. Our children are growing up prejudiced of people based on color of skin, religion, race, or even financial status. We are training up a whole new generation of people who are going to judge others based on all I stated above. The only way we can stop this and truly have a society based on love and not hate, jealousy, color of skin, religion, and race. So what does the meaning of who is the mother and brethren of Jesus have to do with this study? If you have a child or even a spouse who does not know God then you can understand what I am about to say. We have to understand that the only people who truly understand are those of Christ. Those who have the fullness of God's Spirit in, on, and through them. The point is that if our spouse or child is not on the same level as us with God or even connected in any way, then to them it is foolish to spend the time and or resources and money on God . So the ones who become our mothers and brethren are those who are like us and in Christ. The problem with our children fortunately can be taken care of just by taking time to make sure that each and every family member knows how, and spending the time with them to teach them. It is time that we help those who do not know they have a problem and how to fix it. We need our parents making sure they know their children and doing everything possible to teach them what they need to know to live a life free of prejudice and full of love for all. If the children today learn this, within 20 years we would have a lot less crime, pregnancies in children, prejudice, and our children's children being able to be children again.
So what does all this have to do with breaking the mold?
