Movies and The Bible

My main concern is that people I have talked to that have read books and watched movies on the Bible believe the books and the movies instead of the Bible. Since the book or movie gave the first impression, it makes it hard to understand the difference and that Hollywood is not always right.Take for instance the show about Noah and the Flood. They had Lot, and Sodom in the same time period. Noah was in Genesis 6 and 7 and Lot and Sodom was in 19-20 anywhere from 500 - 1,000 years apart. Yes, I know the argument, if it gets them to open up at all it is worth it. Not at the risk of doubting the Word, it is not!
My prayer for you is: 3 John 1 2.
Revelation 22:18
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.
I myself take that to mean the entire Bible, and it is better to be safe than sorry.
Let's look at another area:
Matthew 7
12. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
When you get right down to it, Hollywood is only around to make money. As far as being accurate, well if you make more by changing the story, guess what? The only movie I have ever seen close to accurate was the movie "Matthew". It was taken from the NIV version of the Bible, word for word. You could read along with it and stay right with them. And no it was not a book being read to an audience or in the slightest bit boring. A book a few years ago that was called the "Bible Code" (based on Karisma Magazine) supposedly promoted self salvation over salvation by Jesus. A lot of people got into it and some church leaders as well. Remember, Lucifer or Adam told Eve part truth and part lie and that is why Eve was deceived.
Genesis 3
3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
God never said do not touch, and He never told Eve and He never told Adam to tell others, or that it was a comandment to others.
Genesis 2
16. And the Lord God comanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
God comanded of the man, not anyone else. But the point is when Eve believed if she touched the fruit she would die, and then did touch and nothing happened she proceeded to doubt the rest and ate. It was not until the man ate that the sin was comitted.
Genesis 3
6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
The point here is that Adam and Eve had lived longer than we do by this point and had a personal one on one relationship with God in all ways, and THEY were tricked, deceived into sinning. So how much more can WE be tricked by Satan who has been around for thousands of years versus us who might be here a measly 100 years,. Like I said, Satan will use all at his means to deceive us all, and the best way is TV, movies, and books, and especially if they refer in some way to the Bible.
So be careful and take the Bible as the final authority and not Hollywood or man.
Remember to show faith when you pray, then praise and give thanks.
God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
