Abortion / Judging

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

There are too many divisions on this subject. I will state up front that I am against abortion unless it will endanger the life of the mother, incest, or rape. I also want it known that it is not up to me to decide; it should be between the woman and God, and that no one should judge anyone for any reason, and they should forgive. If you have a problem with judging, here is just one area Jesus spoke on the subject.

Matthew 7
1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

John 3
16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Another word the translators could have used for “condemn” is “judge”.

How about fruit; some of you are out there saying this shows the wrong fruit.

Matthew 7
17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

So what is the fruit?

Galatians 5
22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The entire idea of salvation is love - God’s love for us. Then comes being part of the church and a part of Christ, or Christ in, on, and through us.

As we grow in the Lord and listen to Him and follow Him we realize it is not about law, or being just right, but about love.

1 John 2
27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

If you do not know what the anointing is, it is English for the Greek word “Christ”.

John 14
26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Isaiah 10
27. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Even the Jews knew about the anointing, and Jesus even declared He was anointed.

Luke 4
18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

So to be of Christ or a Christian is to have the Spirit of God in, on, and through us. When we are saved we have the Spirit in and we are saved from all, but we grow even further as time goes on and in proportion to the amount of time we allow for growth.

Matthew 16
15. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The word for Peter in verse 18 is also a piece of the rock or Petros, and the rock is Petras. So as we have a revelation of Who Jesus is as the Son of God and the Christ then we start becoming a part of the church, or as it is revealed to us we start becoming a part of the church.

How do we know we are saved?

Romans 8
16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And what about the power of God?

1 Corinthians 1
24. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

So now you know you are saved by the blood of Jesus. As you are saved, you have the Spirit in you; as you grow and as the Christ and Son of God are revealed to you as being Jesus by God you become a part of the church. As you wait and listen and ask for the anointing, you become of Christ as the Spirit of God grows on you, in you, and through you. At that point the power and wisdom of God grows in you as well.
We also know we are not to judge. Jesus had every right to and did not. He also forgave as they hung Him on the cross, we are also to forgive.
So what does this have to do with abortion? Everything! We should not judge the ones who are getting the abortions. If God loves us that much and will not judge us, then how can we? Yes, we can judge the act, but never the person. We should always be careful of even judging the act, and always be ready to forgive.

I have talked with a lot of women in their 40s that had abortions in their late teens and early 20s who now are tormented by what they did. First of all, the pro choice group should give women all of their options when they come in. For instance, the waiting list for adoption of a baby in this country is very long due to a short supply of babies. So they could carry the baby and adopt it out. Yes the other side is not showing the love of God in the way they should especially when they bomb clinics and kill people.

I was dating a girl when I was 23 and she got pregnant and had an abortion. At the time it did not affect me like it does today because I was so desensitized by the world in this area to the point that I no longer felt anything. Is she going to Hell for the abortion? NO, only if she rejects God will she go to Hell. The problem though is that with abortion so readily available today many use it for convenience sake. It has become like taking an aspirin for a headache especially with the ru486 (abortion pill) from Europe.

The point is we need to stop judging those who have abortions and try to help them understand the love God has for them, even if they had an abortion. We should not judge but forgive and help all to understand the truth in all areas, adoption, forgiveness, love, and so on. If we spent as much energy and time on showing the love of God, we would have fewer who it to be shown to them.

Being a Christian is not running out evangelizing or witnessing, but listening for God’s voice and following Him. If we all did this, we would water where watering is needed instead of where it all ready is watered too much .We would grow more in our relationship with God and be more blessed by God and be able to bless more people by spending the time where it counts the most - in His presence daily.

So start today to understand that the vast majority of those who are having an abortion do not realize what they are doing and are going to have to live with it. So we should be forgiving, not judging, loving them, and showing them how to hear from God.

God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
