BEHOLD, I GIVE YOU THE AUTHO-RITY TO TRAMPLE ON SERPENTS AND SCORPIONS, AND OVER ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY AND NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT YOU. Luke 10:19 Our authority is His. When Jesus gave the disciples exousia, He gave them delegated authority, the right to act, abi-lity, and capacity. Since Jesus had the exousia to forgive sins, heal sicknesses, and cast out devils, what he passed along to the disciples was the power to function as he did. Jesus gave His followers this exousia, and it has never been rescinded (John 14:12). Because He has delegated to us this privilege, it is now our responsibility to exercise it in His name. The issue is certainly not to stomp on snakes and huge bugs, but to face the most fearsome works of hell and see them overcome in the power of God's Spirit. As we use the power He has given us, "NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT YOU. How much pain do we suffer because in fear or neglect we surrender this privilege to operate with authority. The serpent will bite; the scorpion will sting; the enemy will attack, but as we use the exousia he has given us, we will overcome the works of darkness. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jesus has overcome the world's system and given us the power and authority to do the same. Sickness, sadness, depression, debt, lack in any area are all found in the world system. Jesus said the kingdom should be on earth as it is in heaven. None of those things are in heaven, so we should not experience them here, either. Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is writ-ten, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. The world will try to judge us, but when we are truthful, honest, forthright, and Godly, the world can not find anything to hold against us. Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. When you see a wrong in the world, seek God's wisdom in changing it. You just may be the ONE He is looking for to make a difference. Be strong and recognize evil when you see it. Do not fall into its trap and become part of it. Remain strong and do right. That will always be the path God would choose for you. 1 John 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 1 John 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. These verses remind us of how to deal with persecution and even demons. This is the test to know what you are up against. Remember Christ - the Spirit of God - the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is in YOU. That is much greater than anything of this world or anything that Satan may try to throw at you. I pray that you stand strong, therefore, in the Name of Jesus and overcome all that comes against you.
