Where there is love, there is God!!!
Once there lived a cobbler called Martin. He prayed to God every night. One fine night, God appeared in his dreams and said "Martin, I am going to visit you tomorrow!"
The poor cobbler got delighted.
Martin was prepared for God's visit. He kept his doors open. He sat just opposite to the door and awaited for God. By late morning, a poor old lady with her child came inside his house. They were very hungry. They begged for food. Martin took pity on them and he gave them food. They were happy and satisfied with the food. They thanked Martin and went along their way.
Martin was still eagerly looking for God. But, he had not yet come.
In the afternoon, a n old beggar came to Martin. He was shivering because of cold. It was winter. Martin was moved on seeing his terrible condition. He gave him one of his blankets. The beggar was very happy. He thanked Martin whole heartedly and left.
God had not come yet. Martin began to lose his faith. He came out of his doors to see whether God had come. He saw an old lady beating a boy. The boy had stolen an apple from the old lady's basket. Martin wanted to save that boy from the punishment. He paid for that apple. The old lady freed that boy.
Finally, it was night. Martin had made his bed. He was about to sleep. He prayed to God as usual. He wept and cried to the Lord, "O! God! you have cheated me. You never visited me today!" .Weeping and weeping, he slept.
In his dreams, he heard the voice of God.
"Martin! My son!
I visited you thrice today.
You offered me food for I was hungry.
You gave me blankets for I was shivering of cold.
You saved me from that frightful lady.
Yes, My son, you really made me happy today "
Martin woke up. He was in ecstasy now .He realized that
"If you help the poor, you help the God himself. And God will visit you for ever"
