Relationship Part I
Pastor J. R. Wilhite A relationship is where two are involved and there is a two way comunication. We all are basically the same, you, me, and everyone on this planet. We all have dreams, desires, and visions. When we have a sick child we pray and hope for their recovery. When we have a debt facing us we pray and hope for a way out. When we are down, we are all the same, depression depending on its severity brings us to the same spot. Even to wondering why we were born and even wishing we were not. We may look differently and even act differently, but basically we are not different. We all have the same drives, and they are always self motivated. Even those for the kingdom. Yes, even our good intentions are self motivated. Either we hope that if we treat people good they will treat us good. Or if we do this or that it may be done unto us. Most is in our sub conscious, but it is there. When you look at someone else, you see your self, you see God, you see them. You see your self because, at one point or another we are all in the same problems, or the same joy. We see God, because God is in all of us to one point or another, we are created in His image, even if we have not allowed Him back in. We see them last, because we really do not look at them, we look at the shell, or where they live or what they wear and what they drive, or their actions, or their children's actions. We do not truly look at them. How many times have people judged you wrongly? Or how many times have you gotten mad or done something that showed your worst side, not your best side? You see we are all alike, all wanting to grow, have families, security, health, happiness, healthy children. We want our families to know God and our friends as well. As we look at others and ourselves, we have to realize that when Jesus told us to have comunion He was ordering us to have a relationship with God in everything we do. What do we do the most other than sleep? Eat, so as we eat, talk, share, we should do it all in relationship or comunion with each other and with God.
We should not look at someone and say, "There goes a sinner", or "They are headed for Hell", or talk about how they dress or where they live is beneath us. Some of us do that without even realizing it. We should look at each other as God looks at us, as His children, some more lost than others. Oh yes, we are all lost until we have the relationship with Him.
Imagine a family that has a missing 10 year old. There would be search parties out looking. Some times they will find the child healthy and some times they do not. Well that is how it is with God. He is looking for His children and sometimes He finds them or should I say we allow Him in; we find Him. Sometimes we are not found in time. As that family mourns for that lost child, so does God for His lost children.
Do you know there are many lost children claiming to be Christian?
We need to stop using that term (Christian); it has lost its meaning. We should be known by the fruit of the spirit of God, as children of God.
How does this happen?
People go to church, they sit and listen, they may even tithe and work on a comittee or two; they have been baptized in water, and profess being Christian, but they have no relationship with their Father. They do not profess Jesus; they profess religion.
It is time to get right with God and get this world saved. The only way that can happen is first by spending time listening to God when you pray. Yes, at first you may hear nothing and it might take awhile, but go into a private quiet place and spend time with God (Matt 6). Do this daily, and when you hear from Him start serving God as He directs not as man directs. Man can only get you to Hell. God gets you everything else.
It will take time to develop a relationship, but anything good does take a while. In time things will change. You will start, IN TIME, to see blessings, and attacks from the other side. The blessings only come when your desire is to know GOD, not the hand of God. The attacks will never be too big if you have the relationship. The attacks come from Satan to stop your relationship.
So there are three things:
Remember you are not alone. We all have desires, and we all want to be blessed, but the true blessing is in knowing God.
If you read Malachi 3:10-12 and then Mark 4:12-18 you will see where the tithe can and will increase your knowledge of the word and of God. The tithe is more than just giving 10% to a church, it is a way for God to have authority in your life over all that matters, your income, your growth, even relationships. Out of about 30 people I have known for the past 10+ years only 5 tithed. The 5 of the 20 that tithed have increased in every area of their life. Where the other 15 have increased some, they are still light years behind the 5 who tithed in all areas. It is your choice, but do not tithe until you understand the tithe and what it does for you and do it from the heart and not the head.
