Desire of Your Heart

The desire of your heart has to be of God; to have God first in your heart, soul, and mind, but more often than not, many have other than God first.

Look at your own life. Is there anything you do, or think, or see that you would not do in the physical presence of God? If there is anything that you do which does not involve God 100%, then either you need to change or at the very least realize God is not first in your life.

Matthew 22

 36.  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

 37.  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

 38.  This is the first and great commandment.

 39.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

 40.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

In the following verses Jesus described so many…

Matthew 15

 8.  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

 9.  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Matthew 6

 18.  That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

 19.  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

 20.  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

 21.  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 12

 34.  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

 35.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

 36.  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

 37.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 13

15.    For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Jesus described how they would know he was the Messiah via prophesy, or in the physical.

Matthew 12

 40.  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Then he explained how we would know who He was via the Spirit and why we should follow Him.

Matthew 11

 27.  All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

 28.  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

 29.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

 30.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
