Sex and Sin
Jerry Wilhite, author One of the reasons we are told not to judge, period, we will be judging our self in some way or another.
Matthew 7
1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
I have been asked why someone thinks someone will go to Hell for same sex relationships. After prayer and much thought I realize most who think this are in the same boat as well.
As far as sin there is no one sin worse than any other as far as God is concerned. Mankind places values on sin, which sins are the worse and which are borderline.
What people have to realize is that by telling someone in a same sex relationship they are sinning and going to Hell, while they are having sex with anyone other than who they are married to is in for a big shock.
Sin is not the end, it is closer to the beginning.
It starts with a thought, then becomes words, and finally an act. By comitting an act that is a sin you have started another chain of events. By sinning and continuing to openly sin, knowing that what you are doing is a sin, you build a bigger and bigger wall between the yourself and God. Think of sin as cigarettes. The more you smoke the sooner you are going to die a horrible death.
You can know sin one of two ways; first by the law. Read Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy and you will understand the law and sin better. The law points out sin in our lives so we can see it and then understand we need to stop sinning.
Under the law if we did sin, we could sacrifice an animal or bird and then be covered until we sinned again.
Under Grace our sins were forgiven when Christ hung on the cross and bore them on His sinless body. Since then we have repentance for the sins that came after that dark day. Remember that repent means to turn from sin- make a 180 degree change and go the opposite direction in the future.
