Responsibilities

Jerry Wilhite, author

Every Christian has certain responsibilities.

If you have ever asked the following questions then this study is for you without doubt.

  1. Why am I having problems?
  2. Why is my health bad?
  3. Why am I in debt when I was promised so much?
  4. Why am I having problems with relationships?
  5. Why do things happen the way they do?
  6. Children die, good people die, hardships happen; is this the will of God?

If you have ever thought anything along the line of any of the above questions then you need a one on one relationship with God to get the answers.

First and foremost, we all have the responsibility to make contact with God, to develop a one on one relationship. Jesus came to save us, but also to reconnect us to God.

We should spend time every day, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or longer doing nothing but listening for God's voice. We should do this daily until we hear Him and as soon as we do we need to be prepared to ask one question to be sure it is God we are hearing.

1 John 4

1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Then when we hear God, we should be obedient and follow His guidance.

Our responsibility is not to man, a man/woman of God, a church, denomination or non- denomination, or a group. Our one and only responsibility in this area is to God, and God only.

Most people suffer unnecessarily. Most go without unnecessarily. Most have hardships unnecessarily. All we go through here can either be avoided or made less stressful, but there is only one way can this happen - by a one on one relationship with God.

You say, "But I am too deeply in trouble now! I do not have the time to wait to hear from God!" That does not mean you cannot start so the next time you will be prepared. We have prayer, and through prayer miracles do happen.

Mark 11

22. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Responsibilities in the world as we are waiting to hear from God.

John 12

45. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a comandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50. And I know that his comandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

If Jesus did not come to judge how can we? We can not and still believe we are obedient to the word of God.

I used to want to find a way to pay less taxes, then God corrected me. He said, "Do you not think I can not supply you with enough to pay your taxes?" Then He pointed out what Peter got for tax money when he needed it.

Matthew 17

27. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Matthew 19

14. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

You see we have many responsibilities, and I could list page after page of them, but with the few I have listed you should be able to use this as an outline, a guide for all the different kinds of responsibilities until you are hearing and following God.
