Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

Legalistic

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

There are those today that are as legalistic as were the Pharisees of old.

Matthew 14

12. Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13. But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16. And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17. Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18. But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

  1. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

2 Peter 2:10

  1. But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Strong's Ref. # 2963

Romanized kuriotes

Pronounced koo-ree-ot'-ace

from GSN2962; mastery, i.e. (concretely and collectively) rulers:

KJV--dominion, government.

1 Corinthians 12

28. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Strong's Ref. # 2941

Romanized kubernesis

Pronounced koo-ber'-nay-sis

from kubernao (of Latin origin, "to steer"); pilotage, i.e. (figuratively) directorship (in the church):

KJV--government.

Now what we should do instead of asking others what they are doing, or criticizing others because they do not meet up to our goals. We should ask ourselves the following questions.

  1. Are we legalistic, deep in the law?
  2. Are we living a life unto the Lord?
  3. Are we judging others?
  4. Are we forgiving others?

We are told in the Lord's prayer to forgive all, not some, not based on who does what, but all. Jesus would not tell us to do something that would at any time come into conflict with each other.

If Jesus said it, then it needs to be done, and followed as He said it.

So in the Lord's prayer we are to:

Matthew 6

9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

  1. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
  2. His will in heaven is no poverty, no sickness, no debt, no sorrow, etc. So why do we have it here? He would not say something that could not be done. Only what could be done.

So if it is not happening here as it is in heaven it is up to us to find out why and correct it.

  3. Give us this day our daily bread.
  4. We are to depend on and count on God to supply all of our daily needs.

  5. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

This is not the only time Jesus refers to us forgiving. He also says it in Mark 11

Mark 11

22. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Above in Mark 11:22-26 we are told how to pray and how to have all our wants granted to us. First by faith, faith is believing without doubt, and faith comes by hearing the word (Romans 10:17).

We are told also in Mark 11:26 if we do not forgive others we will not be forgiven. And without forgiveness there is no salvation.

Romans 8

  1. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

If you have not heard God through His spirit tell you, you are His child in a way no one can take it away. A way you know it is real, true and yours. If this has not happened one of two things is not right in your life. Either you do not believe Romans 10_9-10 or you have not forgiven all. Remember if you still remember it, or think about it, it is not forgiven. True forgiveness is forgetting what you are forgiven,

You may say, what I say is too hard! Do you believe Jesus would tell us to do something that was impossible, or too hard to do?

Did you know the only way to please God is give Him all of your problems,
cares, concerns, anxieties, debts illness, anything that could come between
you and God. In I Peter 5:7 we are told cast all of our cares unto Him (God)
In Greek the word for cares would be translated to problems, cares,
concerns, anxieties, debts illness, anything that could come between you and
God And you can only do this by faith. And in Heb 11:6 we are told the
only way we can please God is by faith.

So if you please God you are giving Him all of your problems including those you have a hard time forgiving.

Matthew 6

  1. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

A lot of the Lord's prayer is like another prayer in the Old Testament. Right in the middle of God listing the genealogy of the time He writes two verses that are not a part of the genealogy, the only thing comon between these 2 verses and the listing He is doing is it is a prayer of one He is listing.

1 Chronicles 4

9. And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

  1. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

The main part that interested me the most other than how odd it was for these 2 verses to be where they were is what God did with the request. He granted the request, not part but all.

Now as you should be seeing is that those who are concerned with the cleanness of the hand or the body vs the cleanness of the heart is the first is legalistic of the law. The other is of the Spirit, the love, of God.

Plus we are not to judge others,

Matthew 7

1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

  1. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Actually we are judged by every word that comes from our mouth.

Luke 6

37. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

  1. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

We are judged by every word out of our mouth.

1 Corinthians 11

  1. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

If we put God first in all things, and I do not mean just the big things, but all things, then we must be obedient. How can you be obedient without hearing? You can not, yes; part of hearing is His written word. But it also is His word heard in us and around.

We should listen daily until we hear His voice, for some this will take time, where others it might be imediate. But no matter we need to hear from Him and Him only.

John 14

26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 John 2

27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Until you hear Him for yourself there are some simply things you can do and follow to help and protect you.

  1. Judge no one other than yourself
  2. Replace judging in your life with forgiveness and remember true forgiveness is also forgetting.
  3. Live the life unto the Lord, follow the fruit of the Spirit. Life your life in a way that Love, Joy, Peace at the very least are flowing from you.

Matthew 4

4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

If you find in examining yourself that you are legalistic or to deep into the law then follow the 3 steps listed before Matthew 4 and you will be on your way to true salvation.

Other studies that will help you grow and learn more as well as they were a huge help with this study.
