This study is on why the Blood is so important.
The blood cries out.
Genesis 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
Spilling blood brings a curse.
Genesis 4:11 And now [art] thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
The life of our flesh bodies is the blood. You can drive a car, but with out air and gas it won't go. The body is very similar. You need air to breathe and the blood transports it to feed the body. Through the blood food is transported for our cells to grow. The blood carries impurities to be filtered out through the liver & kidneys. It feeds us and is the life of our flesh.
Genesis 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, [which is] the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Turning water into blood was the first sign Moses performed in Egypt.
Exodus 4:9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither heMarken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour [it] upon the dry [land]: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry [land].
The last plague of Egypt had blood in it. To save the first born in a household from death, the blood of a lamb had to be placed on the door of the house.
Exodus 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike [it] on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
The above description of how the blood was placed formed a cross two times. As you can see in this image:
Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye [are]: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy [you], when I smite the land of Egypt.
The blood was a sign of protection. Also they could not leave the protection of the blood.
Exodus 12:22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip [it] in the blood that [is] in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that [is] in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
Exodus 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite [you].
The blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled on the altar. God was showing us how we were going to be saved. He (God) had to give man, not just a symbol, but an actual action to offset the sin in man. This was done by sacrificing animals and then sprinkling their blood, their life. Their life was sacrificed for man.
Exodus 24:6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put [it] in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
Exodus 24:8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled [it] on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
Avenge the blood, or avenge the life lost in the next verse. Here again, blood is being referred to as life.
Deuteronomy 32:43 Rejoice, O ye nations, [with] his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, [and] to his people.
The New Testament, the new covenant or new promise was sealed in blood. Or sealed in life, the sacrifice of that life (Jesus), and the blood, the life of Jesus was shed.
Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
If the blood of a dead animal brought a temporary forgiveness, then how much more will the blood of our LIVING Lord bring forgiveness on a constant, never ending basis. That blood, life, that was shed for us, is still alive today. Therefore our forgiveness is still alive today.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
If the blood of a dead lamb protected the children of Israel from death during the final plague in Egypt, and the blood of dead animals gave temporary forgiveness of sins, how much more will blood that is alive (and not dead) of our Lord do for us today.
y prayer for you is that you are covered in the blood of our Lord. Amen.
My prayer for you is:
3 John 1Remember to show faith when you pray, then praise and give thanks.
