Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

OLD and NEW

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

When reading the Old Testament remember it is the old for a reason. It was the time under the law and the purpose of the law was to point out sin. When someone is sick the doctor first must find the reason for the illness before he can come up with a cure for it. Well, the law did just that; it diagnosed the illness in man, and the illness was sin. Until Jesus came the only cure was to eradicate the illness. In those days the only way was to destroy (kill) anything or anyone who was not of the law. They had to follow the law or they were causing an opening for sin to come in and kill everyone. So, they knew to follow the law. If they were in the camp of Israel they knew the law and they knew if they did not follow it they could die. Just like someone who smokes knows they could die from the effects smoking, no matter it is their choice. In Numbers 25 they had a great plague and the plague was a result of sin, so they had to end the sin to remove the plague.

It is hard to imagine a loving God allowing this to happen, but it was not God doing it; man did it. God set up the rules at the beginning and like any parent with children they do all they can to protect them and hope the children will respect them enough to follow the rules. Parents have lost children due to electrical outlets that were covered but the child got the cover off, or matches that were put up, but the child somehow got to them.

You see God is an honorable gentleman. He will not force His way in, and He cannot lie or break His word.

So, when He gave all dominion on the earth to man, all that is and will be in it is of man. Then when he sinned Adam gave all of that dominion to Satan. Until Jesus came the only hope was the law, but it was very strict.

So why did God not bring Jesus in sooner?

Because He had to find one who had enough faith to believe and agree to be the vessel for Jesus. Of course that was Mary; read Luke chapters 1-3.

Then after Jesus lived a sin free life as a man to show it could be done, He went an extra step and took all sin on Himself and gave us an extra helping hand, so if we messed up we had a safety net, and that was His shed blood. All anyone has to do to be saved is told to us in Romans 10:9-10

Understand that in Timothy the times called for a woman to watch the children away from the teaching so the children did not bother or cause a problem for those listening to hear what was being taught. Then the husband came home and taught the wife. What is missing is something that God has figured man could understand and handle but the devil has for 2000 years kept us blinded to, and that was 3 things.

1. We are all equal in grace, no sex, no color, and no race, all of the Lord.

2. That we understood a person would teach what Jesus said and did, and then through this the people listening, they would want more and the person teaching would teach them how to hear from God and grow from God. (John 14:26 and I John 2:27) This was told even before the book of Timothy was ever written.

3. That the only true authority was from God not man.

When Timothy was written it was written to people who had been Jews or at the very least gentiles who had the law, understood it, and followed it, or knew enough of it to follow. So you have a bunch of legalistic people that Paul was trying to help Timothy with, and in such allowed the law to be part of their teaching. We do the same today, except the law and Old Testament were a poor shadow of what was to come and a way of life until grace came. Remember Paul, as Saul, was very much of the law and still had a longer period of his life in the law than grace. It is hard to just throw all of that away.

We are to follow the law, not the old but the new. The old law was fulfilled in Jesus.

Under the law there were 10 comandments; in grace there are 2. You cannot break a single one of the 10 if you follow the 2 of grace. They are to love God with all of your heart, soul and spirit, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

It is just like the tithe. It was fulfilled in the new. Instead of 10% it is all; we are to give all. The difference was in the old they did not have a personal relationship with God as we do in Grace through Christ Jesus. In this relationship we are to listen to God and if He directs to give it all, we are to give it all. In the law they gave a flat 10%, where in grace you may not give anything for a long while and then He may direct you to give a part or all you have. That is why so many people fall back on the tithe of the old, so they do not have to give it all.

My prayer for you is:

3 John 1
2.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth

Remember to show faith when you pray, then praise and give thanks.

God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
