Harvest Time

You have heard others
say there is a time to plant and a time to harvest. That is true, but there is
so much more to it that I am doing this study on all that is involved from
sowing to reaping. Even the world
understands the principle of sowing and reaping. The farmer knows it from his
own harvest he has each year. The rest of the world understands that "What goes
around comes around", or "You reap what you sow", and "They'll get their
comeuppance." Until 2 years ago I
really did not understand planting and harvesting as well as I do now. What
happened then was we bought a new house and I finally got into mowing,
planting, gardening and so on. My wife does most of the gardening, but I help
with the fertilization and I do all of the mowing, edging, and weed eating. Now
I have some of the best tools to make my job easier, better, and faster. I have
a 7.5 horsepower mower with 10 speeds, a weed eater with an electric starter, a
power edger (gas driven), and a blower to blow all the grass into one pile to
sweep up. No, I am not bragging about what I have, since I have a back problem
it is the only way I can still do the yard and just in the past 12 months all
we have invested in equipment has been paid for vs. hiring someone else to do
it. So why do I even bring this up about what all I have? As we precede you
will understand. First of all, to plant
anything you first have to have good ground to plant it into. If the ground is
not good and say becomes contaminated with poisons or oils, chemicals, or so
forth, all of your work could go down the drain. So before starting you have to
decide if the ground good. You check the growth of
what ever is growing and this usually is the best way short of sending a sample
of the dirt to a lab to be analyzed. So how do you find out if a person has
good ground? Mark 4 3. HeMarken;
Behold, there went out a sower to sow: 4. And it
came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air
came and devoured it up. 5. And some
fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and imediately it sprang
up, because it had no depth of earth: 6. But
when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered
away. 7. And some
fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no
fruit. 8. And
other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased;
and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9. And he
said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. In Mark 4 we see the 4
types of ground there are to sow into. How can we tell when
it comes to a person? Matthew 7 16. Ye
shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of
thistles? 17. Even
so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth
evil fruit. 18. A good
tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good
fruit. In Matthew 7 Jesus tells
us how one of His own will be known, by the fruit, the fruit of the Spirit of
God in each of our lives. So how does this help us? If a person shows a
desire to hear, and has shown more good than evil in them, their ground is more
likely to be good than not. Even if they have been evil, if they show a desire
to learn and change that is also good ground. The difference is which one has
the most weeds to be pulled. Some times it is the person born into a Christian
family and raised in a denomination that has more weeds than others. But no
matter, just like the ground you want to plant in, you first have to pull the
weeds or use 'Weed Be Gone' to protect the ground from weeds. This is the basis
of God's love for us taught to others to show it is a relationship that matters
more than anything else, a relationship with God the Father. Now we fertilize the
ground, by sharing the love with them and showing in our selves and scripture
how much He loves us. John 3 16. For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17. For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved. Now you start planting,
and this is the word of God and showing the person in question how to hear from
God. During the growing you
need good ground, water, and sun light. You have the good ground now you just
water it daily. I do about 2 or 3 hours a day, but you could start with as
little as 45 minutes a day in the word, prayer and listening. As the ground receives
the light of the sun, as we listen and grow we also receive the light of the
Son. John 1 4. In him
was life; and the life was the light of men. Now you watch and wait
until the harvest is ready. My first harvest was cantaloupe, and I got 2 and
they both were sweet just like I like them. But when dealing with people it
means the day when you are not needed and they can go forward and help others
and the harvest is people. So as you helped one that one helps one and so on
until one day it could be thousands or more. It is not running out
telling everyone what you know or forcing your belief on them. It is growing in
a relationship with God and letting Him guide you to who He has for you to
water, while another may be feeding them and so on. This is the true way to sow
and reap and it is in all things. I sow weight control by
prayer to God to lose weight. Some find this silly, but it works. As I sow time
in with the Lord and show Him my faith in Him that He can make all fat convert
to energy I am pleasing Him. Hebrews 11 6. But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So how much more pleased
can God be than if I even entrust my weight to Him instead of some man made
diet. I sow my faith and belief that God will convert fat to energy, and I reap
weight loss. Mark 4 10. And when
he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the
parable. 11. And he
said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God:
but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12. That
seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not
understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be
forgiven them. 13. And he
said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all
parables? 14. The sower
soweth the word. 15. And these
are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard,
Satan cometh imediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their
hearts. 16. And these
are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the
word, imediately receive it with gladness; 17. And have
no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction
or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, imediately they are offended. 18. And these
are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19. And the
cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other
things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20. And these
are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it,
and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. 21. And he
said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed?
and not to be set on a candlestick? 22. For there
is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept
secret, but that it should come abroad. 23. If any
man have ears to hear, let him hear. Now you can take this
principle and apply it to all areas of your life, health, wealth, love, family
and so on. As long as it is done with God as #1 and seeking Him it will always
bless you. This will take time for
most to learn, actually it will take a while just to get into some before they
can even try it. Sowing and reaping is so
simple, if you are lacking something, start giving it away. You cannot have a
harvest if you eat all your seed. If you consume all the present harvest, you
will have nothing to plant to reap a future harvest. Every farmer knows this.
If you need money…exercise your faith and give some extra away by sowing it
into the fertile ground of a Kingdom based ministry, or a needy person, or poor
family. If you lack love, give away love. There are so many lonely people in
hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, or in your neighborhood who would love a
visit, a hug, a kiss on the cheek, a few moments of your time…that is sharing
love. You will reap so much in return that you just might be surprised at the
abundance of the harvest! My prayer is that you
all sow and reap all the blessings in life.
God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
