I am sure this study will cause at least one of you out there to want to email me to debate the issue. Instead, I suggest you take it to God and ask Him for His guidance since this study is based on scripture, what He has told me, and what I saw when I died in 1985.
In John 14 Jesus told us that He was going to prepare a place for us, an actual dwelling. In Revelation 21 we are told of a NEW earth, and heaven descending to it and out of it would come the new Jerusalem.
This new Jerusalem would be 1,500 miles wide, 1,500 miles long, and 1,500 miles high.
Now take the size of the new Jerusalem and compare it to the old. The new is as wide and long as ½ of the United States, and its height would take it about 1,492 miles into space. So, if God does as He normally does, the new earth will be as large in comparison to the new Jerusalem as the old earth was to the old Jerusalem. Some have figured this to be about a million times bigger than our sun or 10 million times bigger than the old earth.
No matter what the new earth is, it will be much bigger and completely new.
For the sake of argument (and I truly believe it is this large) the new earth would have no problem holding all the animals and saints in it with plenty of room to spare.
Image the present universe; its size is awesome. I am one who does not believe there is life out there because, based on the Bible, we are it; there is no mention of other life. The universe was made large for our enjoyment. After seeing this, it should not be hard to believe God would make the new earth as large or larger than stated before.
With that out of the way let's look at the next life.
We know that we are not men or women in the next life. Something was removed from Adam to make Eve. In the next life we will be given back whatever is missing to make us whole. Men will be given the part that taken to make Eve, and women will be given the part the was left behind to make Adam. We will be like Adam was in the beginning, before sin.
We will have perfect bodies, about equal to a 20-30 year old here, except with out certain parts, like our organs for reproduction or bodily waste. Neither will be needed, being made like Adam again will make us neither man nor woman. Jesus even stated there will be no giving in marriage for it is not needed. All of our food will go to energy and none to waste.
No we will not be just spirits. We are given a new body, covered in the glory of God.
If there is a new earth, then there are hills, mountains, streams, rivers, grass, plants, flowers, and so on.
Why?
So we can enjoy it. If you traveled the present earth in a circle averaging 25 miles a day, it would take about 2 years to circle once. Now multiply this by 10 million and it is 20 million years. This will not mean that you have seen the whole earth. To see, explore, and enjoy it all will take all eternity.
Now imagine the colors so bright, and so beautiful that they sing out to you. Imagine the most beautiful garden or forest you have ever seen and multiply the beauty by thousands. Remember, our earth has sin in it. It states in the Bible even the earth is crying out due to man's sins; we have shed blood on it.
The new earth has no sin, no concrete, no pollution, no aging.
Now, how about animals? God is a loving God (John 3:16) so why would He create new animals when the old animals were not the cause of sin in the old earth. If the new earth is as large as we are talking about, then wouldn't it make sense that God would make it this large to host all the animals who lived here?
OK, you've got an idea of how big and what it looks like, now imagine all the animals on it, and they are our friends, not afraid of us and we are not afraid of them. Including dinosaurs! Why not? They could be great to play with. What does God want for us?
Mark 10
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
30 But he shall receive an hundred fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Notice "in the world to come eternal life".
Revelation 21
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Genesis 1
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
To have true dominion means to do as they do and more; soar like the birds, swim like the fish, and run as a leopard.
OK, now you have the new earth populated with you, me, all the other saints of God, and all the animals. Imagine how much fun this will be. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine.
So you do not want to spend all of eternity exploring the new earth. How long will it take to visit all who have come before you, even if you cut it back to people like, Noah, Moses, Abraham, as well as family (including family way before your birth), and friends? Let's not forget the new Jerusalem's size and how long that will take to check out. How long will you want to spend in the presence of God and Jesus?
As you can see, the next life is not all that different than this one, except there is no sin, no death, no sickness, no injuries, no lack, no debt, no bondage, no sadness, no depression, no pain, and so on.
As one who enjoys the outdoors, I can not wait to see what all God has for me on the new earth. We can not even imagine this earth without sin, or pollution, or violence. Who knows what this earth was like before sin?
To recap, we will be complete in all ways. We will be happy, healthy, and have bodies. We will eat and be able to explore the new earth or spend time in the city.
Now imagine if you had pets here and went to an area where they were and could enjoy them all over again.
I have a Golden Retriever. I can imagine going to an area where tens of thousands of Golden Retrievers are and throwing a ball for them to fetch and they all go after it. It will be like a heard of elephants.
Yes, there are many more scriptures I can use, but this way you can look them up and find them all and realize for your self just how true this study is. What better way to learn to study the Bible than to have a subject like this to look for?!
God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
