Before you read this study understand that we do not teach, we share and then ask all who read the following take it to God and verify it with Him. We believe a lot of the world is misled by the church of the world and religion vs the one true church. And to know the truth can only come from knowing, not just knowing of God, John 14:26, I John 2:27, Rev 3:19-22.
Many are called but few are chosen because many are misled by false teachers Matthew 7:13-15 so we help all who wants to know the truth how to find and know the truth of and by God and not of and by man.

The Light Part II

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

I will cover a few important areas in this Bible study that a few of you may not get, so go over and over this one until it sinks deeply into you. This could be the most important study of your life. So take your time, pray, ask God to guide you, and take your time.

The Light

Genesis 1

1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  1. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the

deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 1

4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

  1. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

In Him (Jesus) was life and the life (Jesus) was the light of men. No, I do not mean the light of the sun, moon, stars, or artificial light, but the light of the spirit and soul of mankind.

We have a veil of darkness over us, over the earth, created thousands of years ago by sin, and as sin grew the veil grew.

Satan has done a good job getting the darkness to cover everything and everyone. He has had thousands of years to do so. The darkness is in our souls and it is up to us to remove it. We must do so in order to see the truth, or else we go through life with no understanding. Yes, we may get bits and pieces and even think we've gotten a big piece and can see the over all picture, but we don't. We go through life without the blessings or the peace we should have. But when the veil is lifted and we see the light we also see the truth and then stand wondering why? Why, are we wondering?

We see all that this life really is, and what is to come, and what should be. We see the darkness and we see Satan and we wonder why we did not stomp him sooner.

This revelation is what the church is based on.

Matthew 16:15-18

Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Remember in our study on Christ, Christ is a Greek word, which in English means "The Anointed One" (Luke 4:18, Is 10:27) .

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Here Jesus told Peter that he did not understand or come to know the Christ (The Anointed One) by mental knowledge, or being there with Jesus. It was revealed (a revelation) to him by God; so Peter had a revelation in his spirit.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Here is where Jesus named Simon as Peter and in Greek the word is Petros;

     Strong's Number: 4074-GSN
     Transliterated: Petros
     Pronounced: pet'-ros
a primary word; a (piece of) rock (larger than
3037 GSN); as a name, Petrus, an apostle:
                      KJV--Peter, rock. Compare 2786 GSN.

As you notice it is a piece of the rock. Not the rock. Jesus is the cornerstone, but the rock is revelation knowledge from God via the spirit of whom Jesus is as the Christ and Son of God.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Now the Greek word for rock here is petra;

Strong's Number: 4073-GSN

      Transliterated: petra
      Pronounced: pet'-ra
feminine of the same as 4074 GSN; a (mass of)
                      rock (literally or figuratively): KJV--rock.

As you can see this is the rock.

So what is the rock (petra) Jesus is referring to? It is not Peter, because Peter is a piece of the rock. Jesus said, "upon this rock". Well, He was just talking about the revelation Peter had. So the church is built upon the revealed (revelation) knowledge from God of Jesus as the Christ and true Son of God. . "Jesus" translated is "salvation". So, if you are of Jesus, you have salvation. When you are of Christ you are of the Spirit of God, in, on and through you. The Son of God refers to our inheritance in God's kingdom.

So, we are the church as far as the revealed knowledge goes, but we are not the church. The church is when we are connected to God through he spirit, and operating in the revealed knowledge of Christ

The church is based on revelation knowledge of who Jesus is. If you do not know Him as the light, then how can you have life?

John 1

  1. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

In His life is only light, spiritual light, light to shine in the darkness of the soul.

What is the soul?

The mind, will, and emotions, that which makes you, you.

The word of God comes in via the mind. We hear and see it, and then it sinks down into our spirit inside of us, like seed in the ground does. When a seed is planted it grows roots down in the ground before it sprouts up through the topsoil. That which enters as one seed in the ground comes up and produces thousands of seeds, like apples, oranges, and so on. The word of God is the same. It goes in the top, the mind, and sinks down into our ground, the spirit. As the seed comes back up out of you (mouth) then it produces many seeds for many to be blessed.

Think of the spirit as a well, ready to absorb what ever you put into it; when over full it flows in all directions to water all in its path. If the spirit is filled stuff of this world then it produces stuff of this world, hate, anger, violence, carnality, and so on. But if it is of the word of God, it produces, love (true love), joy, peace, and so on.

The word is not something to be merely memorized, but understood and stored for giving out to others as often as needed.

John 14

  1. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Out of the light comes truth, and out of truth is light.

Think about a veil over your face, a dark one, so dark that you see only what the veil wants you to see. That is violence, death, hate, anger, bondage, debt, sickness, and so on. Imagine poking holes through the veil; it gets lighter so you can see there is something just beyond the veil. You realize all of this has been a lie, not God, but the world. You reach out for someone in the light to pull you through the veil. It will only happen when you cut through. How? By operating in God's love and looking for the light, looking to get out of the darkness.

  1. We are called.
  2. We do not reject the call.
  3. We are saved by the blood of Jesus.
  4. We are anointed in God's Spirit.
  5. We fill our soul with light (God's word).
  6. We stand for God's word.
  7. We seek God in every way possible and all of His righteousness.
  8. We obtain breakthrough.

All of this can take a day, a week, a month, a year or longer depending on how much we put into it. Think about this, if you sleep 8 hours then sleep gets 1/3rd of your life. You work 48 hours average a week, you eat 14 hours average a week, you bathe and get ready another 14 hours a week. At this point you have spent 132 hours of 168 hours with none towards God. Now add in 2 hours a day, watching TV, movies, radio, Internet, and so on. You are up to 146 hours leaving only 22 hours, now you have to drive to work, the store and so on, there goes another 5 hours a week, leaving only 17 hours a week. Now how about family time or your own time, golf, sports, movies, shopping, and so on, there goes another 5 hours so you are down to 12 hours a week at most for God, less than 10% of the week. In most cases it is 1 hour a week, less than 1%. By the way, that is about where most people are in their giving as well, but that is another study.

You will either have to restructure your week or take years to get into the light.

Spend the 14 hours while you eat thinking of God and how He blessed you with the food. Add to that your drive to work and home some time spent listening to Him and His word, not just music. Yes, Christian music is good, but the word is what you need the most. The music is the dessert, and too many of us are fat on desserts. It is time to be fed more of the meat. Convert the TV time to reading the word and your time getting ready to praising Him. Now you have 59 hours to grow by and more than 32% dedicated to God. You will grow accordingly.

Do not just try it for a week or two and give up; make up your mind to a life style change. If the above is too much, split your TV time with God; you still will have 52 hours a week with Him. The biggest problem in growth is shown in Mark 4; we get excited and state that we will and then something comes up and we forget, or problems happen and we doubt, or cares of this world enter in and we lose our drive.

Mark 4

  1. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of

God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

  1. That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not

understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be

forgiven them.

  1. And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all

parables?

14. The sower soweth the word.

  1. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have

heard, Satan cometh imediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their

hearts.

  1. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have

heard the word, imediately receive it with gladness;

  1. And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when

affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, imediately they are offended.

18. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

  1. And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other

things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

  1. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Remember it is the blood of Jesus that washes us clean. It is our way in, our salvation, but the Holy Spirit and the anointing thereof is our connection to God for our growth, and the light, is our life.

There is so much more I want to say, but I feel led to stop here, take this in, no matter how mature you feel you are in the word of God or how knowledgeable you are. Remember the downfall of the Pharisees was their arrogance in knowledge.
