This is the Strong's definition of Joy. Strong's Ref. # 5479 Romanized chara Pronounced khar-ah' from GSN5463; cheerfulness, i.e. calm delight: KJV--gladness, X greatly, (X be exceeding) joy(-ful, -fully, -fulness, -ous). Notice Joy is calm delight: Strong's Number: 5463 Transliterated: chairo Phonetic: khah'-ee-ro Text: a primary verb; to be "cheer"ful, i.e. calmly happy or well-off; impersonally, especially as salutation (on meeting or parting), be well: --farewell, be glad, God speed, greeting, hall, joy(- fully), rejoice. Let's look at peace: Strong's Ref. # 1515 Romanized eirene Pronounced i-ray'-nay probably from a primary verb eiro (to join); peace (literally or figuratively); by implication, prosperity: KJV--one, peace, quietness, rest, + set at one again. Joy is calm, a delight in the calm, peace is a form of calm, but with peace comes prosperity. The first 3 fruit of the Spirit are "Love, Joy, and Peace". Love is charity Strong's Ref. # 26 Romanized agape Pronounced ag-ah'-pay from GSN0025; love, i.e. affection or benevolence; specially (plural) a love-feast: KJV--(feast of) charity([-ably]), dear, love. Strong's Number: 25 Transliterated: agapao Phonetic: ag-ap-ah'-o Text: perhaps from agan (much) [or compare 5689]; to love (in a social or moral sense): --(be-)love(-ed). Compare 5368. Without going further into the word "Love", which would take many pages, Love is being considerate of others above oneself. To take nothing from anyone, but to be sure that they are whole in all areas. For instance: if you saw someone who needed groceries you would just buy them the groceries they need, without having to think about it first. If you saw a light bulb that needs replacing you would just replace it, and not try to get someone to do it for you. You would not do anything for recognition but be a blessing without taking the credit. There are too many who want the credit. Oh, they get the credit, but nothing else. Love is giving of one's self totally to another and not because you are related or even know them. Parents will sacrifice themselves to protect their child. When we love each other enough to do this for each other without thought, then we will understand love. With love comes Joy, a calm delight, a time where you walk through mine fields of problems with calmness in your heart and nothing can stop your joy. But for Joy to continue there has to be peace. Love brings the joy and peace and the peace maintains the Joy. But, if allowed, things of the world will come and steal your Joy and peace. Don't let anybody steal your joy.
