Sower-Word-Seed

Pastor J. R. Wilhite, author   Close Window

This study is going to three groups I deal with, our weekly Bible Study group, our daily prayer warriors, and our teaching group.

Some of you are well aware of my beliefs. Those who are not, should read the study I did on the "Plan of God". It is located on the front page of godsgifttoyou.com .

Sower, Seed, & Word

There are some who state they are Christian, but do not believe in faith:

Hebrews 11:6. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

So, if it is impossible to please God without faith, then those who preach against it are not pleasing to God or pleasing God at all.

Faith is our belief in God to be what He says He is and do what He says He will do. We must believe He actually did do what He said He did.

Before we go any further let's look at the Word. The word was spoken and it came to pass.

God told Adam to not eat of a certain tree, but Adam did. Adam listened to Satan and followed the word of Satan over God. Adam allowed the sowing of the words of doubt over the words of faith.

Genesis 3:5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Adam was right there, he heard and watched what was happening. It does not say and Eve went to Adam or went and got Adam. She did eat and gave to her husband there with her.

In the literal translation it says:

Genesis 3:6.

|7208| Then saw

|0802| the woman

|3588| that

|2896| {was} good

|6086| the Tree

|3978| for food,

|3588| and that

|2530| {was} pleasant

|1931| it

|5869| to the eyes,

|8378| and that desirable

|6086| the tree {was}

|7919| to make wise.

|3947| And she took

|6529| {some} of its fruit

|0398| and ate.

|5414| And she gave

|1571| also

|0376| to her husband

|5973| with her,

|0398| and he ate.

To her husband with her, so he was there, and he knew better. Also, God did not comand Adam that no one else could not eat of it, just that he could not.

Genesis 2:17.

|6086| but of the Tree of

|1847| the Knowledge of

|2896| Good

|7451| and Evil

|3808| not

|0398| you must eat

|4480| from it,

|3588| because

|3117| on the day of

|0398| your eating

|4480| from it

|4191| surely

|4191| you will die!

Notice it says, "your eating" not you and your offspring, spouse or anyone else. God was specific here and meant only Adam. But Adam or Eve added to what God said:

Genesis 3:3.

|6529| but of the fruit of

|6086| the Tree

|0834| which {is}

|8432| in the middle of

|1588| the garden

|0559| has said

|0430| God,

|3808| not

|0398| you must eat

|4480| of it

|3808| --nor

|5060| you must touch

|0000| it,

|5435| lest

|4191| you die!

God did not say anything about touching, so either Adam added that or Eve did.

First of all by adding to what God said lead to Eve's being deceived. Satan deceived her, she did not sin, and she was not told not to eat of the tree.

Eve believing that the touch would kill, and when it did not meant that eating may not either. So as she ate and lived so Adam ate, and when Adam ate was when their spiritual death came.

OK, why Adam and not Eve? That was God's way - Seed, time, and harvest. Like a virus that could be dormant in a person, apparently this was the seed. It was not until Adam ate that the knowledge was released. Remember Eve was made of Adam. No Eve is not less or women are not less; it was just that this area of Adam was not fully in Eve. Adam was the catalyst to release the problem.

Back to the point; Adam was told not to and he did, so he disobeyed God and was then subject to the word. The tree was not placed in the garden to tempt them any more than matches are in a house to tempt a child. Like that child with the matches, Adam would have, when mature enough, been able to eat of the tree.

We do the same with our children, we tell them not to play with matches lest they may die. But that is not meant forever, just until they are mature enough to use them right. Adam and Eve were not mature enough to handle the knowledge of good and evil.

Adam could have told the serpent to be gone and not listened. Instead he listened and allowed the words of the serpent to override the words of God.

Adam then was dead spiritually. He was then of the world and what now was the world system.

For the next 2,000 years God had to deal with man. After Adam we can onlyfind two who walked with God:

Genesis 5:24. And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. ((First rapture).

II Kings 2:11. And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. (Second rapture).

Matthew 27:52. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

  1. And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

They arose, then where are they now? They already died once, so either they are here or this is the third rapture. Also notice they appeared unto those in the Holy City. The same people who yelled "crucify Jesus" 3 days earlier now saw dead loved ones walking the streets professing Jesus as Lord. Why else would they enter the city?

The fourth rapture was when Jesus in the flesh was taken up and the fifth comes pre tribulation, sixth mid tribulation, and the seventh and last comes at the end of tribulation. Seven is the number for completion.

Genesis 6:8. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

So God now destroys the earth and mankind all except Noah and his family. For the remainder of the first 2,000 years since Adam sinned God makes a covenant with man through Abraham.

The next 2,000 years He helps the descendants of Abraham. He does this by finding one here and one there who would listen, one into whom He could plant His word to get it into the earth. (Seed, time & harvest)

At this point the word is in the earth strong enough for one to agree with it to manifest the word into flesh.

Luke 1:38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

John 1:14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Now that the word is manifested in the flesh, the word can take sin on itself and offer a better way of life, a spiritual connection to God.

What separated man from God was sin. What re-unites us to God is a release from sin in our life.

The idea is that as Jesus took the stripes for our healing, it was then complete, not needed to be done again; we were once and for all healed by His stripes.

The word was now in the earth as a man. There was a direct connection to God other than by the sacrifice of animals, or through a man of God. We all became men and women of God. God was released from the innermost parts of the Holy of Holies in the temple to be in us.

Matthew 27:51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

By the way, what do you think Jesus did for three days in the grave? We were told of the rich man in Hell and how he asked Abraham to have a poor man bring him a drop of water and how it could not be since the one was in Hell and the other in paradise separated by a gulf. Remember Jesus told the thief this day we will be together in paradise. Well Jesus preached in paradise to those who were there (the spirits in prison).

1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

1 Pet 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

The word was planted in the earth. As the word of disobedience had brought about sin, the word of God planted in the earth offered salvation in all areas.

As Jesus was the manifested word of God in the earth, also the Son of God, He was also the Christ.

God had to get His Spirit into the earth in a way for mankind to have spiritual life, not just salvation to the next life. Since Christ is a Greek word for the anointing, and the anointing is the Spirit of God in, on and through man, this offered the way.

Luke 4:18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

The anointing is what releases us from bondage, and out of the yoke of Satan's grasp:

IS 10:27. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

It also brought a new way, a way for our own life with God directly and individually not via a man of God, but to make us men and women of God.

John 14:26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

I John 2:27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. He is the light, a beacon to us to point us to the right path, and that light is our life. He is the way, the way to God, and the truth, because in Him is only truth and the only true truth is of God.

Imagine those who believe in coming back again and again until they get it right. What a sad state it would be if that were true, because after this long we would have to be better than we are, not worse.

Those who believe this all comes from chaos an accident, well, for them I have only one thing to mention, you must not be as intelligent as you think you are. Why? Think about what it took to bring us here and how many chance accidents it took.

First to have a planet in the right position in relationship to our sun, the right rotation for heating and cooling, the right ingredients to make the life and have all that is needed, the right position not to get peppered by other objects like meteors and asteroids. Yes, I know the earth has been hit before, but based on science that may have been what helped our evolution, so here is another chance accident that worked to our favor. If you take time to study it all, you will see how true this is and how something else, a creator a Supreme Being must have helped.

Now let's look at the word and how the word works for or against us.

Take for instance the saying "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"; this is a lie from Hell told to us as children so we will start off not believing in the power of words. Who would want to keep us from that power? If you answered Satan you are right. He counts on us believing that all that is now, has been since the beginning and is part of the way things are. Here are a few examples:

  1. Christmas started in about 360 Ad, so for 360 years they did not celebrate the birth.
  2. Santa Claus, is less than 100 years old in this country. Now a days Santa is more what Christmas is about than the birth of Jesus.
  3. Easter Bunny is, again, something less than 100 years old.
  4. Halloween less than 50 years old.

Notice they are taking the emphasis off God and putting it on to the world. So what is so bad about these? Nothing except they confuse the children (and adults), and pollute the day at hand. I know some of you are saying, "but I had Santa as a child and I am fine."

It is not having or not having, it is the pushing of God out and replacing Him with something that is not of God.

I have always believed the arts, entertainment, and so forth, are a reflection of our society and its makeup.

Over 35 years ago they made TV Shows that were very innocent compared to today. At the time, some were saying they went too far. One of my favorites is a western called "Have Gun Will Travel" even though, compared to today it is very tame, on a regular basis it brought in scripture right out of a King James Bible. Mostly scriptures dealing with the Love of God for us. At the time those who opposed it stated that the main person of the show was a gun fighter, a hired gun man, was wrong to portray and would infect our children. Imagine taking a show like Friday the 13th with at least 15 violent murders per movie back then and showing it, and that is tame compared to some things we have out now a days.

So if the TV and movies are a reflection, take a look at some of the old shows of the 50's and early 60's, like Bonanza, Rawhide and others and compare the times and then look at our shows and compare them to our present times.

The idea is this as we sow words in the world; the world will react to what we sow.

KJV Mark 4:2-20

2. And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

3. HeMarken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

4. And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

5. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and imediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

6. But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

7. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

9. And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10. And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

11. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

12. That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

13. And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

14. The sower soweth the word.

15. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh imediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, imediately receive it with gladness;

17. And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, imediately they are offended.

18. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19. And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

  1. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

As Jesus told the Apostles about sowing the word we should see that not all would get the word, not all would be of good ground. A lot of those who are not of the good ground are sowing into us their words, views, and beliefs via books, movies, TV, and the Internet. As they have, look how violent we have become.

We need to take authority over the words in our life and in the world and start getting the word of God back into the world.

If you understand that what is in your heart comes out of your mouth, you can change by listening to what you say. In doing so, learn how to cast all worries on Him.

Let's learn how our words help and hurt us.

KJV Luke 6:40-46

40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

  1. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Notice Jesus said fruit, in Mark 4 Jesus talked about sowing and how the word sown would grow, so we need to judge only one, ourselves. We need to do this to be sure it is the word of God in us and coming out, not that of the world.

KJV Matthew 12:34-37

34. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

  1. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
  2. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
  3. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

So we are judged by our own words, either justified or condemned:

Romans 10:9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

What comes out of our mouth is based on what is in our heart. We have the flesh and the spirit, the flesh is the spirit of this world, and the spirit is the spirit of God. If we have God in us and we are feeding the spirit with truth (word of God) it will grow and the flesh will be in check. If we are not, then the spirit will die in us and the flesh will be in control. That which will come out of our mouth will condemn us instead of justifying us.

Jesus told His apostles when they returned with food that He had food that they knew nothing about. (John 4:32) He had already talked about water that would leave you never thirsty again. (John 4:14)

The food we need is the word, if we stop eating food for the body and die and go to be with God, is that not better than if we eat all the good foods for the body and live 100 years and go to Hell?

You start by feeding your spirit the word of God, read the Bible, but don't just read, ask for understanding and get the understanding. Let it soak in, get it so welled up in you that no matter what comes against you, you have the word to draw upon and use.

Then believe what you read, believe the promises are yours the healing and so on, they are all yours, and always have been. We have an enemy who wants nothing more than to see us fail.

When a problem comes, go to the word and see what it says about the problem or better yet get the word so stored up in you, that it flows when needed (not memorizing).

When you pray, pray as Jesus taught:

Matthew 6:6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11. Give us this day our daily bread.

12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

  1. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Be alone in prayer, not long or repeating prayers, but to the point, knowing what you are praying for is already known and you are giving God authority to act and power through you to act in this world.

"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven" Do you think there is poverty, sadness, sickness, illness, injury, hate, prejudice, envy, jealous, depression, and so on in heaven? No, so Jesus told us to pray for what is in heaven to be here. He gave us authority over it in His name and by words.

So as you pray, do not pray it in a way Satan can get a hold of it, pray in the way Jesus would. If someone is sick, pray they are healed by His stripes. When you end the prayer always use amen. Amen means "so be it", so as you pray "Jerry was (not is, not going to be, but already was healed 2,000 years ago) healed by His stripes, So be it. You are sealing it with agreement in God and His word. The same goes in all areas, we are to take a hold of the word of God and apply it to all areas of our life.

"Humble your self" is not stating you are a wicked sinner, but being in awe of the power and authority of God and understanding that you can not carry the load it has to be handed to Him.

I Peter 5:6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

I Peter 5:7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I Peter 5:8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

But as Jesus told us, I am learning to take hold of my words and stand on them for my being justified, healed, prosperous, and righteous based on what He did for me. If you will get your Bible out and get the promises out in front of you and read them and go over them and get them in you, so you can be blessed and a blessing unto all.

Do not pray "God, if I had a thousand dollars I would give to who needs it". Give to those who need out of what you already have. Show your faith in God, and pray "God I need a thousand dollars for me." Be honest. He knows what is in your heart all you are doing is fooling yourself and hurting your chance of getting your prayer answered.

Do not allow any unforgiveness in your life for anyone or your self.

This is just a start. With what you have learned, and time with God, you will be all that God wants you to be. Always keep Him first.
